The Rules of 1830 in a shortened Form
|
1830 is a game strategic game of
economy. Each Player represents a Private Investor with a starting
money to be invested in Railroad companies in the middle of the 19th
century. Prior the First round starts the players try to get control
over some private Companies who are located on the map (mostly on one
hexagon each), which give them a per Round Income and other special
Abilities. In general the 6 Company's special Ability gets better the
higher the cost of the company. After these Round the Game begins
with the Stock Phase where everyone has the opportunity to buy/sell
Stock of the 8 Stockcompanies. Each Investor can choose in which
company he may invest and if he tries to be the president of these
company(s) or just to participate on the Amount of money After each Stockphase at least one Operational Phase (later up to three) will follow where the President of all Active Companies may Build Tracks, build Railheads, buy Trains, and so on, to grow the Company (or maybe later to ruin it at the cost of another player). The Game Ends when either a
player runs out of
cash or the bank is out of money (12500$) ending with a complete
Operational Phase in any way. The Player with the bigges Capital (Money
and Stock together) wins the game. |
Private Companies
| - Private Companies are bought by players at the
beginning of the Game. - Each Private Company has a per Round income and some have spacial abilities. - Before the first Stockround the private companies are sold to the players. Begining with the starting player every company is offered arround the table (1. Player 1. PrivateCompany, 2. Player 2. PrivateCompany, ...) That player may then: 1. Buy that company for the Face value offered by the bank. 2. Bid for another yet unsold Private Company the face value (Current Bit +5$ if there some player allready placed a bid on it). 3. Pass - When a player Bids for another company the offering is made to the next player an so on... - If the offered company makes a complete round without anyone accepting it, it will start again at -5$. - If a company should be offered to the next player with a bid on it it is no longer offered to this player the normal way. Instead the bidding player gets the company for the face value (If he was the only one bidding for it. Otherwise an auction starts for all bidding players on that company - An Auction is used to determine the highest bidder. Steps are 5$ for each. - A track may only be build on the track of a private company if that company is owned by the acting Railroad . - After the first "3" Train is bought, Private Companies me be sold to Railroads. - The Special actions of private Companies can be done on the "Company" Page when the player is logged in. |
Railroad Stock
| - A Player may chose in each Stocking Round to do the following: 1. Buy ONE certificate of any Railroad (if it is the first certificate the player must chose the initial value per 10% Share). 2. Sell X certificates of any Railroad to the bank (It is only possible to sell certificates below 50% total owned by players) 3. Skip his Action (The Player is not out of the complete Round when skipping) - Buy and Sell is possible within the same players turn. - In the First Stocking Round no Stocks may be sold from players to the bank. - Selling Stock to the bank reduces the market price by one step down per 10% Share sold. - The Player right behind the one with the last action in the actual round receives the 'Priority Deal' card and is first for the next Stock Phase - The first certificate is the Presidents 20% certificate which must be bought. - The first player, buying the Presidents certificate, sets the initial value for that company (PAR) - No player may hold more than 11 certificates (for 6 Players, for less Players it is more). It is not possible to buy more than the maximum. If a player gains another share while allready at the maximum (as example: by a Private company close), this play must sell a share before he can continue - No player may hold more than 5 certificates from one corporation (Giving a maximum of 60% Share). - When all certificates are sold to players at the end of a Stock Phase that companies market price is raised one step up. - When the bank allready holds 50% no more certificates may be sold. - A Company gets operational when at least 60% of its certificates are sold. The company receives 10*PAR as budget for investments. - All these Actions are done with Buttons in the Overview Page when the Player is next and he is logged in. |
Railroad Operations
| - The Operational Order is determined by highest Stock
Value -> most right on Stock market -> above other token on Stock
market - The President of the acting company (operational) must do the following steps: 1. He must construct one new track tile if possible (Must be connected to his network). 2. He may buy another Railhead and set it on a free City that is connected to his network 3. He must run his trains on routes which are available (Each route must include at least one Railhead (Route need not start/stop at Railhead)) 4. He collects revenue earned by (3) and must decide wether to keep the money for the company or pay it as dividend to the Stockholders. 5. He may purchase a new train or later on upgrade Trains. Every company must own at least one Train. - White Circles represent cities and black dots towns. When choosing tiles the amount of cities/towns must be the same as on the empty map - When place a tile on a mountain or on a river the company must pay 120$ (80$) for it. - Replacement with a green or a brown tile may only be used if the replaced tracks remain on the new one. - A Train can only earn as many fields as the Trains name is (A 3 Train can only earn money from 3 Fields) (A Diesel has no limit) - Only Fields that earn money are counted. Every city/town on the route moust be counted. - A route may not go throught a City hold by a different Company (Company Railhead on that city) unless your company also has a Railhead there or when the City has another empty Railhead. Note that some cards have two Cities which are not connected internally where this decission must be made for every "City" independant - Your Route may start/stop in such a town - A yellow tile may only be replaced by green or brown one, a green tile only by a brown one and a brown one may never be replaced - Special Tiles like B, NY or OO can only placed on specialy marked parts of the map. - No routes for running the train may be used more then once per company. A Railhead must be included in the used route - No City/Town/Far City may be used twice by one train (It is possible to earn from a city with another train by using another route throught that city) - When reinvesting the revenue the Stockvalue is reduced by one step to the left. - When paying as dividend the Stockprice is raised by one step to the right. - When paying dividend the complete income will be divided to the owners depend on the amount of share owned. Income from Initials will remain in the Bank, from Pool shares it will be added to the company - Trains may be sold between companies at any value but every train may only be used once per Operating Round (Use the "Company" Page when you're logged in to offer a Train/Private Company. - If a train must be bought and that company has not enought money, the players money must be used for it (If that play has'nt enought mony shares must be sold). - Buying the first Train of a new sort will trigger new Options in the game. See Overview for this - The Operation Move can be set on the Map Link, when your Company is next to move and when you ar logged in - Make your settings in the Input form and check the settings in the preview. Please remember the following: 1. Give the Position for the Map tile or Railhead as character followed directly by number : 'c12' (without ' ) 2. When Operate Trains write the route the following way: 'a12-b13-c14'. 2.1 Every Coordinate should be a field that earns money if the route is clear to understand for all other Players. 2.2 If there are different possabilities to place the route add a via information in brackets: 'a12-b13-(d15)-c14' 2.3.These Coordinate in Brackets will not be count towards the overall earned money and is just for Information 3. Chose wether to reinvest or to spend the money 4. Chose the amount of Trains to buy. Later on you may also chose to buy Diesel instead of 6 Train and to chose Upgrade to Diesel - In the Preview you may have to submit additional Information if 2 different Railhead positions are choosable or if your company runs out of money |
